A Day in the Life with an Angel

Routine....Routine....Routine

As with any kiddo, there are good and bad days, and routine seems to be the answer for all.

Cedric usually gets up at about 6am after sleeping through the night YAY, and first things first we want out Thomas the Train. This lil man can build his tracks all over, sometimes I think we should get more but we may find Thomas heading to another country! After he has woken up his sister, Alyssa, his other main objective! We dive into the day :)

Breakfast has become a lot easier now that mom gives him a choice either cereal or eggs, we are becoming quite proficient using a fork, but sometimes we still like using a spoon. Clean-up is fun, Cedric loves to help, whether mom wants him to or not.

Getting dressed is always exciting, Cedric is very capable of undressing (a milestone reached loooong ago) but we are getting better at dressing, occasional hair-pulling and running away always keep this activity full of giggles. I am always amazed at his grip, one would think after 5 yrs I would know better.

If it is a therapy day, Cedric is way happy he loves riding the bus! There have been many times when mom is chatting with the bus driver only to hear very unhappy noises from Cedric because as far as he is concerned, if I am on the bus, it needs to be moving...this is my time mom! The minute that engine starts up laughter and clapping commences. Cedric used to make his unhappy noise whenever I took him to therapy, life has been easier since we are able to bus him. My lil man loves his independence!

Once Cedric is home from therapy, it is time for lunch. Sometimes mom lets me help in the kitchen. I can get the peanut butter and jelly and have so much fun squeezing the bread. I also like to get into anything else I can find, someyimes mom is quicker than me but not by much!

Cedric has school in the afternoons. I was not thrilled with this, he did have morning school but that changed this year. Cedric is usually at his best attention wise in the ams, but we have done pretty well this year. Once me (mom) got over this routine change! Did I say routine was only for kiddos! :) Of course school means another bus ride! Cedric with help up first step is now walking up the rest by himself and gets into his seat. Wish he was this good getting into our car.

On days when we don't have school, Cedric plays with his sister. He loves of course going out back for water play. This lil guy makes the best mud pies! It was a hard time for mom to get over all the dirt but I got her trained, plus I get a bath after playing outside, life is great!

Mom keeps talking about potty training but I already have her trained...wonder why she still needs help with this!!

Dinnertime is mealtime at its greatest. Refer to other mealtimes and add in a lil man who is done with his day of maintaining. I have been thinking of adding in more brushing and joint compressions because I think his lil system is on overload.

Bedtime, yuck! Cedric hates picking up his toys, but hey most kids do too. Mostly I try to get him to participate for some of it. Alyssa, his sister is a dynamo at picking up...she is very particular at where and how items are put away. Slightly OCD in my opinion but well there are worse skills. Cedric always has yogurt with his meds, usually I can use yogurt as a way to keep him on task...depending on both of our patience level. Cedric loves to watch "Jakers, the Adventures of Piggley Winks" it is a cartoon on Sprout. Then it is story time. Daddy is the bestest story reader. Then finally my sister goes to her room after I have given her my love (ie hair pulling with a strong hug!) and I get daddy all to myself for my brushing.

Off to sleep I go, getting the rest I need to give mom and dad oh and my lil sister a run for their money the next day!
